KSA Achievement Awards 2016

Kettering Science Academy celebrated the many achievements of its students at its annual award ceremony.

Kettering Science Academy celebrated the many achievements of its students at its recent annual award ceremony.

KSA musicians played while students and their families, staff and governors gathered for an evening of celebration, speeches and musical performances.

Guests were welcomed by Principal Paul Davies and CEO of the Brooke Weston Trust Dr Andrew Campbell who introduced inspirational speaker and sportswoman, Fran Williamson. Despite being born with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy and being told she was stupid at school, Fran has become a five-time world champion swimmer and six-time Paralympic medallist. Her message to students was that you can achieve anything if you want to and put your mind to it.

Vice Principal Tony Segalini hosted the evening and awards were given to outstanding students in the categories of Achievement and Progress for KS3, KS4 and Post 16. Other categories included Sports, Science, Leadership, Community, Excellence, Charity and Safeguarding. Due to consistent high levels of student attendance we also awarded students who had achieved 100% attendance for three and four consecutive years.

During the evening guests enjoyed solo performances from BTEC music students and songs including ‘Food Glorious Food’ and ‘Oom pah pah’ from the cast of ‘Oliver’ (this year’s school production) closed the event.

Special thanks go to everybody who contributed to the evening including the KSA musicians, sound and lighting technicians and the students themselves.
