Freelance sports journalist, Steve Jackson recently visited Kettering Science Academy to talk to students studying PE about careers in sports and journalism.

Steve works for a range of media outlets in radio, television, newspapers, magazines and the Internet. He has interviewed some of the biggest names in sports and has worked with companies including Sky Sports and ITV.  Steve spoke to students about his personal career route and about his roles with sky sports and radio stations in reporting on football around the country. The students then had the opportunity to ask him any question they had.

PE teacher Mr Baines said: ‘This term is ‘Career Term’ and we are trying to expose our students to people working in a variety of industries to help them gain a better understanding of the jobs available, what they entail and the different routes they can take. The students really enjoyed the talk, gained an in-depth understanding of the job and learnt how a passion for sports and media can be combined into a career.’
