Students are in for another exciting and challenging programme of activities with the second set of ICU days on February 17th and 18th.

Following last term's successful ICU events (pictured is Soap Science day), staff have been busy planning more activities that will get students thinking creatively across several subjects as well as developing different skills.

Year 7s, who have been studying detective fiction in lessons, will have their notepads at the ready to solve a murder mystery.

Year 8's theme is Design of the Times and they will study and implement a number of design styles, with activities including bridge building, producing art deco-inspired gadget pouches, fashion design from different eras and applying pop art to student photos.

Year 9 will be hoping to impress during their Dragons' Den-style activities. They will be divided into small groups and will be challenged to come up with a new product, including market research, deciding on costs, promoting their product and the creation of a prototype before coming face to face with the 'Dragons'.

Year 10's project is At the Movies and will see students produce their own film trailers. Along with filming and editing, they will also look at promotion and advertising campaigns to get them thinking about how businesses work.

Year 11's theme is Rising to the Challenge and day one will give them the opportunity to complete any outstanding coursework or work in a faculty of their choice for the day. On the second day, they will have choice of team activities and sports at the KLV or outward bound activities at the Frontier Centre in Irthlingborough.

Year 12 students will act as ambassadors and helped teachers to run the activities for younger students, while Year 13s will look at becoming independent ready for higher education or employment. They will examine what skills they'll need at university, how to manage their finances and even how to prepare meals.
