European Debate

Gifted and Talented Humanities students took part in a debate as part of European Awareness event – and won.

11 Year 10 students took part in the event at county hall organized by the East Midlands Network For Global Perspectives in Schools and were named the winners in one of the two debates they took part in.
The students were divided into two teams and had to pre-prepare their debates on the subjects of whether the Lisbon Treaty is good for Europe and looking at whether the enlargement of Europe is good for Britain.
They then had to defend their arguments among the other four county schools that had attended the event.
Stewart Richardson, who helped prepare the students for the event said: "The students performed amazingly well and I was very proud of them. I had very little input into how they structured the arguments and they put in a lot of hard work.
"I would especially like to thanks students Tom McCartin and Boniface Kangethe for supporting the other students with the preparations."
The students who took part were:
Tom McCartin, Boniface Kangethe, Euan Lindley, Aiden Perkins, Mark Mandin, Rebecca Tailby,
Levi Allthorpe, Parisa Niasseri, Christian Dobson and Lewis Owens.
