Footballer Thrives At Peterborough United’s Centre of Excellence

A promising footballer has started his second season at Peterborough United’s Centre of Excellence.

Ethan Lee is part of the under 14s line-up that plays against teams from Arsenal, Tottenham and QPR.

Ethan, who is in year 9, trains twice a week and plays on Sundays as a centre midfielder for the Championship club.

Prior to joining Peterborough, he was with Aston Villa for four years after being scouted at a local football tournament.

However, when training every night during the week started to affect his schoolwork, Ethan's family decided that it would be best if he moved and he was soon taken on by Peterborough.

Ethan said: "Being part of the centre of excellence develops your football skills but also your skills in life because you have to be more responsible.

"Although it's serious, it's also fun and exciting. It helps you with your technique and also your mindset about the game."

Ethan is one of only two players who have been offered a contract when he leaves school.

He said: "If I keep working hard and if they still see my potential I'll then get a scholarship and then after two years, they could offer me a professional contract."

Ethan's football career started when he had just started infant school and he joined an under-4s team.
