Two Students Play in National Basketball League

The year 10 basketball team – recently crowned district champions – boasts two stars who play in the national basketball league.

Last term, the team secured the title of district champions following some convincing wins against Prince William, KSA, Latimer, Bishop Stopford and CBA.

Tom Martins and Balazs Komarniczky also play for Northampton Nets' under-15s team, which sees them travel across the country to compete.

The pair play a couple of games each weekend and train twice a week in Northampton. The Nets are currently third in the league and if they win their next two games, they will make the play-offs.

Tom, who has only been playing basketball for about two years, said: "Playing for Northampton Nets is more like being part of a family and it keeps us in shape. We train with them - and the school team - a couple of times each week but we practise every day in our own time."

Balazs has been playing basketball for seven years after taking up the sport in his home country of Hungary.
