Documentary Project Captures Memories of KSA

A group of students has been interviewing staff, parents, former pupils and teachers for a film project aimed at capturing people’s memories of KSA.

With just a few months to go until the move into the new building, the group of 10 students has been learning more about the Academy's history.

The footage will be edited into a four-minute film that will be screened at Nottingham's Broadway cinema as part of a Teach First initiative.

This week, parents and former pupils were invited in so they could be filmed recalling their memories of their time here. They were also given questions to discuss as a group and were filmed by some of the students taking part, including Matthew Cathorne, Ethan Beadsworth and Joe Towell.

Ethan said: "We've been going round the school interviewing people and getting them involved. It's been fun and a good experience. It's been interesting to hear what other people think of the school and we've got to know the teachers in a different way. I think our school stands out because everyone has got a bubbly personality."

He added: "Doing the film project has made me more confident about going up to people which will help me."

English Teacher Kirsty Berry has helped to organised the project and she said: "The students have got really excited about it and have really taken ownership of it. They have been very enthusiastic with the cameras and they have really captured people's mixed emotions."
