Students Choreograph Dance for Professional Show

Two Year 11 dancers are taking a group of primary students under their wing and teaching them some new moves for a variety show being staged next month.

Holly Thomas and Emma Brotherton will be choreographing an African Themed Street Dance and training pupils from St Mary's Primary School in preparation for the Jungle Hood show being staged at the Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering on Saturday, July 3rd.

The show, which is a modern interpretation of Jungle Book and Robin Hood, has been organised by Youth Works and the Kettering Federation of School Councils.

It is a collaborative event which will provide enjoyment for the whole family and involve schools from across Kettering - showcasing the talent from young people in a range of settings.

Holly, who studies Dance as part of her GCSE PE module, said: "We were approached by Miss Brackwell (KSA World Related Learning and Enterprise Coordinator) to get involved, as she was aware we had dance backgrounds.

"We have been putting together the choreography and will then train the pupils over the following Fridays at the William Knibb Centre in Kettering."

Emma, who started Dance in Year 3, said: "We have just six weeks of practice, but we are really looking forward to it and are sure that it will be a great event."

Ticket details will be released soon.
