When In Rome…

Year 7s studying the Roman Empire entered into the spirit of things by designing and wearing their own togas.

This term, the year group has been looking at how Rome was established, how the Empire expanded, the structure of Roman society and finally, the army.
In the lessons on society, students examine the republic and how it is structured, working in groups to find out the order of the society. They also study six of the emperors and decide why they are seen as mad and dangerous.

Togas are an insight into the Romans' way of life and how society was structured - purple togas were worn by emperors; white togas by Roman citizens.
