The Academy recorded its best-ever set of results at this year’s national Intermediate Maths Challenge. One hundred KSA students from years 9 to 11 took part in the competition, which is organised by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust. They answered 25 multiple choice questions in one hour under normal exam conditions. The top 40% of students nationally receive a gold, silver or bronze certificate in the ratio 1:2:3.

It was the Academy’s most successful entry yet with students achieving:

  • Four gold awards
  • Six silver awards
  • 13 bronze awards.

This includes three Year 7 students who achieved 2 silvers, Luke O'Hara and Owen Wilson, and a bronze, Bernard Dec. Two of the year 9 students, Adam Doughty and Sam Blackman, who got Gold were invited to the Grey Kangaroo Maths Challenge which is the European Maths Challenge.

Another Year 9 student, Thomas Winstone, who achieved a Gold award has been invited to take part in the Cayley Mathematical Olympiad. This is only open to the top 500 students in Year 9 from across the country.
