A group of our Year 10 students have earned themselves places on a challenge day to be held at Cambridge University in March.
The group of students from KSA will be joining other students from schools across the country to take part in the day events and gain valuable experience from the undergraduate days.
Our Year 10 students have been chosen to spend a day at Emmanuel’s College, Cambridge on Wednesday, 9th March.
They will receive a tour of the facilities on the university campus and will find out more about courses available to them in their chosen future studies of interest including medicine, dentistry and engineering.
On the day they will also be provided with an introduction into higher education, be able to attend one or two subject taster lectures and take part in an inter-school debating challenge.
A number of students at the Academy were encouraged to apply for places on the challenge day and they were all asked to write application letters with 10 out of the 14 who applied were accepted to participate in the day.
The successful Year 10 Students were: Pranav Sudheesh, Joshua Pegler, Kirstyn Linning, Ishan Tailor, Lydia Shepherd, Amarjot Hayer, Aston Buckby, Aimee Parker, Emily Osborne and Luke Hansen.
Students chosen said they were looking forward to the day at the university and were pleased to be given the chance to gain the experience.
Year 10 Student, Lydia Shepherd said: “We were asked to write application letters and state what you would like to learn about and why we thought we would make a good ambassador for the school. The day will be a great experience.”
Head of Mathematics at KSA, Miss Lorraine Taylor said: “Year 10 students were invited to write a letter of application for one of the ten places available on the Cambridge Challenge Days. The students were asked to outline their strengths, their future plans and how they would benefit from this opportunity. The quality of the letters was exceptional. These students now have a fantastic opportunity to visit Cambridge University and meet current students to experience what life at the university is like.”
