Fourteen of our Race To The Top students from Years 7, 8 and 9 were recently set a special space mission by the National Space Centre.
Our RTTT students met with 15 students from Corby Business Academy to participate in an eMission as part of a workshop hosted by the Trust school in Corby.
Students worked together on Operation Montserrat which saw them being challenged to form an Emergency Response Team to help the island as it faced the joint threat of a hurricane and an erupting volcano.
The National Space Centre event also tested the students' geography, mathematics, communication, confidence and team building skills.
It was supported on the day by a group of Sixth Formers from CBA and members of staff from both schools.
KSA Students after the event spoke about their teamwork experience:
Year 9 Student, Shalet Jijo said: “I was able to work with people I have never met before.”
Year 9 Student, Niall Bultitude said: “I am generally very individual and do things alone but I worked with my team much more, than usual, and well. Having to work as a team made me communicate with people who I hadn’t worked with before.”
Students at both schools are being offered a variety of extra curriculum opportunities through the county's Race To The Top scheme that has been developed to encourage a selection of high achieving students to aim higher with their studies.
