Maths Challenge Awards

A total of 15 of our students have been awarded with certificates this term after answering mathematics problems as part of  the most recent Intermediate Maths Challenge.

A total of 15 of our students have been awarded with certificates this term after answering mathematics problems as part of  the most recent Intermediate Maths Challenge.
Earlier in the term, a total of 89 of our students from Years 8, 9 and 10 took the maths paper and 1 of our students achieved a gold award, 4 students received silver and 10 were awarded the bronze certificate.
The students were awarded their certificates after answering a variety of multiple-choice questions within a 45 minute time limit, all of which carried different points values.
Head of maths at KSA, Miss Lorraine Taylor said: “Bernard Dec [our gold certificate student] also achieved the score needed to be invited to compete in the European Kangaroo Maths Challenge but unfortunately he was unable to do this as he was away on the New York trip that day.”
Silver certificate student, Year 9 student Luke O’Hara said: “I am surprised to be awarded the silver award but pleased as if was a difficult set of maths problems to solve.”
Gold certificate student, Year 9 Student, Bernard said he was very pleased with his gold award and said it was a shame he couldn’t complete the Kangaroo challenge,  but he added: “I will try again to get to that stage again next year.”
