Sixth Form Open Evening

Kettering Science Academy welcomed over 200 current Year 11 students and their families to look at the Academy and talk to Sixth Form subject leaders.

The evening started with a presentation from the Assistant Vice Principal for Sixth Form Jane Watson, who spoke about the benefits of choosing KSA. The newly appointed Head Boy and Girl made speeches and shared their experience of Sixth Form life at the Academy.

Families were then free to visit different departments, find out more about the content of each subject and take part in a range of activities organised by current students and staff.

The Universities of Northampton and Leicester were on hand to talk about subject choices, careers and post 18 options. The Sixth Form charity committee had their own stand and sold merchandise to raise money for Children in Need.

Miss Watson said ‘The evening was well attended with lots of students and parents asking questions about the courses and career options. It was brilliant to have a number of universities attending the event along side ‘Timely Advice’ careers service. This proved invaluably useful for students.

‘We are looking forward to welcoming these students to the Academy next year.’
