Aspire Higher Pathways Programme

The Aspire Higher Pathways programme brings together 29 partnerships of universities, colleges and other local partners to deliver outreach programmes to young people in years 9-13.

Aspire Higher focuses on 13-18 year olds living in particular geographic areas.  The level of participation of young people aged 18 and 19 in higher education in England varies across the country. Aspire Higher uses research on areas with an unexplained gap in participation to determine where investment can be targeted to boost the numbers of young people from these backgrounds going into higher education.

Aspire Higher is working with Kettering Science Academy to provide many opportunities for our students through a variety of activities including sports journalism traineeships, community radio broadcasting, Brightside online mentoring, Big Bang, Adventure Science, Commando Joes, Car Crash Careers and funding transport to university and UCAS events.

We have a Aspire Higher Schools Coordinator who works with us at Kettering Science Academyon a part-time basis. Based at Northampton University they are the key contact for the school, coordinating engagement with externally delivered activities and works with staff and young people in the school, providing accurate and impartial information.
