Students at Kettering Science Academy are celebrating Science Week by taking part in a variety of themed activities throughout the week.

There will be three drop-in science sessions offered every lunchtime in the Library, with a different experiment or challenge for students to participate in.

Year 7 and year 8 students are going to design and build Rube Goldberg machines during all four of their science lessons to see who can keep a marble rolling for the longest time.

On Tuesday, Year 4 students from Compass Primary Academy are visiting in the morning to enjoy some electricity-based activities in our labs.

On Wednesday, the science department are holding a Demo Day for Year 9 and 10 students. Teachers will conduct a range of lively experiments while students move around the labs to watch them.

On Thursday, the Sixth Form Science committee is visiting St Mary's Primary School to provide activities and demonstrations to the children based on microscopes and the miniature world.

To end the week there will be an exciting inter-form science quiz in the Library for Year 9 and 10 students.

Science teacher, Louise Oliver said ‘We have taken part in the national event for years. It is a great way to inspire the students and rekindle their enthusiasm for the subject. They love watching and getting involved in all the experiments.

‘This year, the library are going to be involved and they will be conduction their own experiments. We are also holding the Demo Day to try and get the older students more involved.’
