Naples Trip 2019

The Humanities department is delighted to offer students in Years 8-10 an exciting chance to visit the Bay of Naples in July 2019.

The 5 day trip will enable students to visit some of the most famous Roman historic sites such as Pompeii, Herculaneum and the exploration of Mount Vesuvius, the living volcano that destroyed Pompeii.

Head of Humanities Ms Franklin said: ‘We are really excited to be able to offer students the chance to take part in this amazing trip. The Bay of Naples is a chance to see where our understanding of global hazards first developed, with a walk along the rim of Vesuvius - mainland Europe’s only active volcano, followed by a visit to Pompeii and Herculaneum to see the sheer destructive effect of a pyroclastic flow. A visit to Solfatara near Pozzuoli provides an opportunity to discuss whether or not it is a ‘Super Volcano’.  On the southern side of the Sorrento peninsula lies the famous Amalfi Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where a ribbon of road clings tightly to steep, rugged cliffs interspersed with picturesque towns.’
