Student Views On KSA’s Sixth Form

Sixth Formers have given their thoughts on why they decided to continue their studies at KSA and how their time here has benefited them:

 Raven Hart, Year 13
"I moved from Brooke Weston Academy this year because I live in Kettering so it's closer for me. "There is good quality teaching here and teachers really care about the students. The classes are quite small so you get lots of personal attention."

Hannah Sutherland, Year 13
"I knew that there would be a better atmosphere here than if I went to college. I have found the teachers to be helpful and supportive."

Emma Rufeea, Year 12
"I stayed on because they do the A Level courses I wanted here. I like the fact that I know the teachers."

Curtis Smith, Year 13
"I think the structure of the timetable is better here. The teachers know me and know what helps me so they can guide me through my A Levels like they did with my GCSEs.
"As the oldest in the school, we are treated like adults."

Head Girl Colette Curley:
"When I was coming to the end of Year 11 the next big decision was where I was going afterwards -when it came to decision time, the only place for me was to stay on at this Sixth Form.
"There was much that KSA offers to the sixth form academically; a long list of subjects to choose from to fit the needs of an individual. The teachers understand the leap a student takes from GCSE to A Level and helps the individual accordingly.
"Although succeeding in your chosen courses is the main priority, there is an understanding that university places are getting harder to secure and so the Sixth Form helps create a more rounded person.
"Fun is also a large aspect with there being many things for us to do in and out of school, including charity days, film clubs and many different types of sports."

Head Boy Alex Ewen:
"There are several things that I find great about the Sixth Form; the atmosphere and the freedom are great, being able to have brief periods where you can do your work is so much better than in the past.
"The responsibility we are given and the trust placed in us by teachers makes the Sixth Form a better place to be."

Kettering Science Academy is holding a Sixth Form Open Evening on Tuesday, February 15th, starting at 6pm.
