Dancer Making A Name For Himself

Street dancer Luke Overson was awarded two first places in a regional dance competition.

Luke, who is a member of Patchworks Theatre Arts in Bath Road, took part in a competition in Wolverhampton earlier this month.

He came first in both the solo and pairs sections, competing against around 15 other people in the individual category.

He won despite forgetting some of his routine and having to free-style for part of it.

Luke, pictured bottom second left practising for the Brooke Weston Partnership dance show, took up dancing because he saw someone do a backflip on television and wanted to learn how to do it himself.

He is now studying for a BTEC in dance.

He said: "Dancing is like a beat in my head - I hear music and just start dancing and all this energy flows.

"I'd like to be a backing dancer for singers because then you get to travel around the world."
