Mr Tara is a qualified graphic designer who moved into education and took a teaching position at Longslade Community College in Leicester, where he worked for 10 years.

There he was promoted to head of the department and helped to raise attainment to well above the national average. He was later made Assistant Principal responsible for teaching and learning.

Mr Tara is looking forward to a new challenge at KSA and said he would like to focus on areas like increasing female participation in DT and developing the after-school clubs.

He said: "I want to develop a provision that excites and motivates students so they're proud to take their work home to show their parents.

"I'm excited about the new building - with technology like CAD/CAM, it has facilities that are second to none and would be the envy of most schools in the country.

"I've met students with character and spirit and I'm looking forward to a new challenge."

One idea Mr Tara has is to set up an after-school club which is tasked with designing, making and selling poppies to mark Remembrance Sunday. He has also expressed an interest in setting up a rocket club.

In his spare time, Mr Tara enjoys playing mixed hockey and is a member of a Tae Kwon-Do club.
