Pedalling to Success

Sixth Form student James Hyde is now being coached by a British Cycling Trainer to help him reach his cycling dreams.

The cyclist, who competes in the discipline of mountain bike XC, started seriously racing in 2008, winning the first regional Race he entered, collecting the Juvenile Midlander Trophy and finishing second overall in the Friday Night Summer Series.

He said: "In 2009 I progressed into the youth category and I won the FNSS overall, winning every race in the series. I also took part in my first National Points Series Race - which is a series that covers the UK - and I finished fifth which was a great achievement for my first national."

He added: "At the start of 2010, I've been training as much as I can - I now have a British Cycling Trainer who gives me weekly plans to get me as high up the field as possible.

"As I am a first year junior it will be hard trying to keep up with the older riders but the training that I have recently been doing should make sure I have the best chance of winning."
