KSA students and staff are awarded for getting top marks in a national science quiz.

As part of science and engineering week each year the students at the Academy take part in a national science quiz.

Both secondary and primary school students took part in the competition and the highest scoring students were awarded with prizes.

The students answered a series of multiple choice questions, and the winners have been announced this week as Cynthia Ike from Year 5 and Luke Aridegbe from Year 10.

The students both said they were pleased they had won, but were also surprised.
Luke Aridegbe said:  “I was surprised I won and I didn’t really think it was a competition to win a prize.”
Cynthia was presented with a crystal growing kit and the book Fizz- Nothing is how it seems by Zvi Schreiber.
Cynthia said she answered the questions on the quiz sheet over the Easter break and said she liked her prizes, she added: “The book can be my new bedtime story.”
Luke was awarded with £25 worth of iTunes vouchers.
There was also a staff science quiz that saw members of staff working out a code word to find out answers based on the Periodic Table, this year’s winner was teaching assistant, Karen Mabbutt, who won an Asda gift card.

The prizes were awarded to the students and Mrs Mabbutt by science teacher, Louise Oliver.
