A group of 33 Students from Kettering Science Academy took part in an enjoyable half term week of skiing.
Students from Year 7 through to Year 11 took part in the week of skiing in the Austrian Alps, in the Zillertal Valley, from Friday, 13th February to 21st February.
The trip for some of the students was a trip of first time experiences from going on a ferry to having their first go on a pair of skis.

Lead staff member for the trip, PE teacher, Mr Liam Feely said: “We arrived there on the Saturday at 8pm and it was straight off to have our first skiing lesson. The students were split up into groups depending on their experience from intermediate through to complete beginners and a lot of this first session was about getting on all the right ski equipment to learning how to manoeuvre in the skis including turning and stopping.
“The first full day of skiing was on the Sunday, the intermediate group took to the slopes to define their skiing techniques and the beginners started to develop their own skiing skills and confidence, all the time under full instructor supervision.

“Every day we skied for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon and in the evenings  the students joined in with social activities including a night of bowling.”
“ Everyone had a great time and by day two everyone was skiing and gaining more confidence on the various slopes. Everyone was very supportive of each other, new friendships were forged and the week was enjoyed by all those that went.”
Mr Feely added: “Next year we hope to be able to take more students to take part in the skiing experience.”
Letters will be going out in the next few weeks allowing for students to sign for the next trip in 2016.
