High Pass Rate For A Levels

Sixth Form students at Kettering Science Academy this year have achieved an overall pass rate of 100% in their A level examinations with the pass rate at AS level also improving significantly.

Sixth Form students at Kettering Science Academy this year have achieved an overall pass rate of 100% in their A level examinations with the pass rate at AS level also improving significantly.
The majority of students have achieved or exceeded their targets.
The pass rate at the Academy has been on the increase since 2012 and the results recorded from students for this year reflects the standard of the Sixth Form provision that was graded ‘good’ in the school’s most recent Ofsted report.
The size of the Sixth Form provision at KSA has increased this year, but even with the higher number of students and many more A level entries than ever before, around a third of the grades by students were very high at A*-B.
Top achievers in A levels included Abhilasha Kapur and Leila Albin who were awarded top grades in all subjects.
Leila received 2As and a B and is set to go to Birmingham University to study law.
She said: “Birmingham wasn’t my first choice, but I have done my research and I know that it is a good university to go to. I am very happy with my grades.”
Abhilasha Kapur, who received 2As and a B has also secured a place at Birmingham University to study combined sciences. She said: “I am both excited and nervous about starting at university but I am happy to get my first choice. In the future I hope to go into a research role looking into diseases.”
Joanna Steczynska, with 2As, a B and a C in chemistry, biology and history is off to the University of Leicester to study biological sciences.
She said: “My place was an unconditional offer, but the grades are still important to me. I am both excited and nervous in equal measures for starting at university and entering into further education.”
Georgia Clarke is also celebrating with her results of 2Bs and a C allowing her to attend Essex University.
She said: “Essex is my first choice and I am really happy but I also cannot quite believe it either.”
This year’s AS Level results are also on the rise, with two students Dylan Birk and Arash Ganji being awarded 4 As.
Dylan Birk along with fellow Year 12 students, Charlotte Clubley and Connor Beadsworth were all pleased  with their AS level results and said they are all looking forward to starting in Year 13.
Principal at Kettering Science Academy, Paul Davies said: “We are happy with A Level results and AS Level grades for this year and the increased pass rate for our students as a whole. These results reflect the ever improving high standards of our Sixth Form provision, which was graded ‘good’ as part of the Academy’s most recent Ofsted inspection. The student and staff are very dedicated to high performance.”
“Students have been working hard to achieve their predicted grades and the Sixth Form students’ grades further illustrate the successes of our Sixth Form including the quality of teaching and the support being shown to students to enable them to be prepared for the next steps into further education and apprenticeships.”

Assistant Vice Principal for Sixth Form, Jane Watson, said: “We are more than pleased with this year’s A level and AS level results with the increase in the overall student pass rate, alongside a third of all our sixth formers achieving top grades.”
