Wheelchair Athlete Inspires Our Students

A British wheelchair basketball coach spent a day at the Academy on Wednesday and provided more than 100 of our students with a unique experience of the sport.
 

A British wheelchair basketball coach spent a day at the Academy on Wednesday and provided more than 100 of our students with a unique experience of the sport.
Throughout the day, wheelchair basketball coach, Gordon Perry instructed the students on the basic skills involved in the sport and he shared his wealth of experience as a wheelchair athlete.
PE teacher, Mr Michael Stock said: “On the whole it was a brilliant day and students found it extremely fun and useful for when they start their GCSE syllabus next year.”
Year 9 student, Adam Patel said: “The day was organised really well, it was very interesting and overall it was a great experience'
Mr Perry has competed both as a wheelchair racer and as part of the British National basketball team in the early 1980s and he is now a sports coach and trainer.
