Kettering Science Academy welcomed Year 6 families to look at the Academy’s facilities and talk with subject leaders.

Families were free to explore and attend a range of activities put on by staff and students. Presentations from the Principal introduced parents to the Academy and helped them get an impression of what life is like at KSA.

Mr Paul Davies, Principal of KSA said ‘The Open Evening was an outstanding event, our staff and students clearly demonstrated what KSA is all about, working together to inspire a new set of students.’

Throughout the week, Mr Davies conducted tours twice a day to show families how the Academy functions during the day.

In each department staff and students put on a range of interactive activities for Year 6 students. In science a range of experiments took place including making methane bubbles, creating electrical circuits and dissecting an animal’s heart.

Performing arts held workshops with performances from both music and drama students. Students and visitors had the opportunity to use the musical instruments and specialist computer programs.

In art and design many projects were on show such as ‘ART X TRA’ and furniture painting. There were also opportunities for Year 6 students to take part in making their own bookmarks, name plaques and decorating biscuits.

Mr Davies said ‘It was fantastic to see so many parents and children attend the event, we had a record number of visitors, which is yet another indicator of how popular KSA has become as a school of choice for Kettering parents and children.’
