Year 10 students studying Art and Design Technology visited the Victoria and Albert museum to gain inspiration for their coursework projects.

The students had the chance to explore the museum taking notes and photos of things that inspired them.

Student Bonnie said ‘I am making an Urban Grunge style bomber jacket with a Chanel twist. I loved looking at the Islamic patterns of the carpets, as this is the type of pattern I want on the outside of my jacket. It was also great to learn the cultural aspect of the artwork.’

Student Jordan said ‘We got to try on hooped skirts and petticoats and this was great for me to experience as I am making an 16th century inspired dress for my project. Even things that didn’t relate directly to my project were beautiful and really inspiring.’

Student Shana said ‘I am making an 18th century dress and the computer aided designs seemed to inspire and help all of us with the patterns we are going to use on our projects. I have seen one that I like and I am now planning to include it in my project through hand embroidery and beads. ‘
