This week the Academy has been celebrating National Autism Awareness Week. Students and staff have organised a variety of events to help raise money for the National Autistic Society.

The Year 10 Princes Trust group took part in a sponsored silence for the whole day on Tuesday, only using whiteboards and pens to communicate. Today the students hosted a coffee morning and cake sale, doing everything from organising the event to setting up the tables.

The SEN (Special Educations Needs) team have led assemblies everyday this week. Teacher Miss Kayleigh-Jay Incles said ‘We have a variety of students at the Academy with SEN and by supporting this event, we hope to promote the inclusion of not some but all students.’

A ‘Guess the Special Interest’ competition is running for £1 a go for the chance to win an Easter egg. The winner will be announced tomorrow.

The team have currently raised £778.79.
