Student Solves Rubik’s Cube in Just 72 Seconds

A Rubik’s challenge designed to test Gifted and Talented students saw one quick-thinking puzzle champion solve the cube conundrum in 1 minute 12 seconds.

Lewis Pywell, who is in Year 7, was given a Rubik's Cube as a gift two years ago and ever since, he's been honing his skills.

He said: "When I'm bored I usually have a go on the Rubik's. It's just about practise. My technique is to do the while tiles first.

"The quickest I've ever done it is 47 seconds but the closest I've got to that since is 53 seconds."

Science teacher Rebecca Fitzgerald said she is aiming to organise a monthly challenge for Gifted and Talented students.
