Principal Martin Campbell said: "We're delighted with another rise in the number of pupils gaining five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C - the figure has risen from 71% last year to 76% this year. There have been some extremely good results in subjects across the board and our science results have once again exceeded the national average."

Among the star performers was Fabien Sutton, who achieved seven A*s, five As and a distinction. He is staying on at KSA's sixth form to study maths, chemistry, biology and physics. He said: "I was surprised and pleased with my results. I didn't think I would do that well. I have worked hard and put in a lot of effort - it's good when you get the results."

Yasmine Kerr, (pictured right) who picked up eight As, was also celebrating this morning.

"I'm ecstatic - I didn't think I'd do that well. I'm really happy with my sociology result in particular," she said. Yasmine will be studying maths, biology, physics and psychology A Levels at KSA in September.

Emotions were running high for Leia Pomfrett, (pictured left) who achieved four A*s, two As and two Bs. She said: "I felt like crying when I opened my results. I'm proud and happy. It's worth it when you open that envelope." Leia is planning to study maths and science subjects in the sixth form.

Another high achiever was Ranveer Sahota, who picked up A*s in maths and graphics and five As. "It's been hard but it's worth it. I didn't think I would get an A in English so I'm really pleased with that one, and the maths and graphics."
