Best-Ever GCSE Results

Students at KSA have enjoyed the best-ever GCSE results in the history of the Academy and its predecessor schools.

This is due to the tremendous efforts of students and staff and reflects their ambition and high aspiration. As a result, the Academy expects its Sixth Form numbers to increase to an all-time high.

The number of students achieving five A* to C grades including maths and English improved significantly to 49%, outstripping the government's floor target of 40%. The number of students achieving five or more passes (A* - G) remained high at 88%.

The progress made by students - which is another government target - also demonstrates the great strides made by the Academy, with strong improvements in English, maths and science.

Principal Paul Davies said: "I am thrilled that so many students have enjoyed and achieved success. We look forward to welcoming back the large number of students who are returning to join our Sixth Form.

"We are pleased that so many students are now well equipped for the next stage of their lives. The results are also testament to the hard work and commitment of our staff who have worked tirelessly in supporting our students.

"We are confident that these results provide a solid platform for the future achievement of our Academy and support our ambition to be one of the country's top schools."

Some of the top achievers picking up their results today include Lorna Milne [pictured left] who was awarded three A*s, four As and five Bs. Abhilasha Kapur, who gained eight As, two Bs and two Cs, said: "The result I'm most happy with is the A in English because I didn't think I'd get it. I put in extra hours of revision and my teachers helped me a lot - I'm really happy with my results. I'm coming back to the Sixth Form to study biology, chemistry, psychology and media."

Josh Clubley picked an A*, two As, five Bs and three Cs. He said: "I'm pleased with my results and I'm glad that I've done well in the subjects I'm coming back to study in the Sixth Form - now it's about working towards my A Levels."

Kieran Tapp was awarded three As, seven Bs and three Cs and is studying biology, chemistry, physics and maths. He said attending extra revision sessions after school was a great help.

Another success story was Jacob Mawby who, since the start of Year 7, has made four levels of progress in English and five levels of progress in maths. From the level he started at, this is virtually unheard of.
