A team of Sixth Formers will help to run the Academy’s community bookings programme after being appointed as Sports Assistants.

Students in years 12 and 13 were invited to apply for the paid positions, which will provide support for clubs and groups who hire out KSA’s facilities during evenings and weekends.

Students had to submit a written application before staff drew up a shortlist for interview.

Steve Walker, who has set up the community letting scheme at KSA, said: “We were looking for students who have customer service or coaching experience, or experience of working with children. We were also looking for enthusiasm and ability to deal with different situations, as well as their willingness to learn and develop.

“This opportunity will give them a good understanding of how a business works and the chance to give something back to their local community.”

The chosen candidates will assist with the general running of the lettings programme, including taking bookings and ensuring that equipment is set up. In addition, there will also be coaching opportunities for the students.
