The most recent Football Academy open event attracted more interest from prospective applicants.

On Saturday, May 10^th more than 20 young football players attended the event held at the Academy.

All attendees were keen to be considered for the Football Academy which is being jointly run by the Academy in partnership with Kettering Town Football Club.

The venture will see the successful students start the Football Academy course from this September, and around 24 students will be studying for the equivalent of two or three A Levels as part of the programme.

In addition to their studies, participants will train every afternoon and play in matches every week in a league structure and also against professional football clubs.

Assistant manager of Kettering Town Football Club, Thomas Baillie, said: “It went very well on Saturday. We had about 22 players of which some 17 to 18 were new ones. We also had some really good players.”

Mr Baillie said spaces are limited with the students’ academic abilities being taken into account along with their playing skills and knowledge.

The entry requirements for the Football Academy are the same as KSA’s normal Sixth Form requirements alongside the assessment of skills.
