September is Roald Dahl’s birth month and this year various celebratory events are to take place on the authors’ actually birthday, 13th September – the official Roald Dahl Day.
In both of the academy’s libraries staff are looking to mark the occasion with special themed events.
In the Secondary Phase Library staff are encouraging Year 7 students to take part in their special Roald Dahl quiz. Quiz sheets are available at the library to collect and the closing date for entries is Friday, 19th September.
Librarian at the Secondary Phase, Heidi  Economou said: “Each year we look to mark the Roald Dahl Day in some way and this year we will be signposting students to our collection of Roald Dahl books as well as encouraging Year 7 students to enter our fun quiz on the author and his life.The students will have the chance to win a Wonka-tastic prize, which coincides with this year being the 50th anniversary of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”


The Primary Phase will be celebrating the day nearer the end of the month. Staff will be involving pupils in a variety of activities relating to the stories of Roald Dahl.
Pupils will also be looking at both versions of the Charlie and Chocolate Films and will be asked to make character comparisons between the two as well at how they differ from the book.
The library will also be holding a themed quiz.
Five quiz winners will have the opportunity to win a Wonka Bar and the one with the Golden Ticket inside wins a book.
