Year 12 students at Kettering Science Academy were given an insight into careers in medicine as they took part in a three day seminar event at Nottingham University.
During the last week of term, from Monday, 15th December -17th December 2014, a group of students from KSA had the opportunity to learn more about studying to become a medic in the future.
Year 12 students, Dylan Birk, Connor Beadsworth, Josh Dawson and Arash Ganji went on the visit to the university and all agreed it was very interesting and an informative experience.
Dylan Birk said: “Through the seminars and lectures we were given an insight into the different routes and pathways we could take with our science qualifications in the future.”
Josh Dawson said: “One of the lectures was taken by a first response paramedic, which was very interesting. We learnt about what it is like to be the first medic on the scene following an accident. I found this a real eye-opener.”
All the students agreed it had inspired them all to look at the various areas in medicine they would like to maybe specialist in for a career as a doctor or paramedic in the future.
Connor Beadsworth said: “There is a summer science event at Nottingham University that a few of us our keen to sign up for as well,  after gaining so much from this last event.”
Year 12 student, Reece Trigg also went to Nottingham University in December and he went to find out more about careers in forensics.
