There is another opportunity being given to Year 10 students to sign up for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme starting at the Academy in October.
Today, Thursday, 17th September the lead member of staff for the KSA bronze award scheme, English Teacher, Miss Rachael Davies spoke to the Year 10 students in assembly to explain about the programme and to encourage more students to get involved.
Miss Davies said: “Since the scheme’s initial recruitment drive at KSA , at the end of last term,  a number of Year 10 students have shown an interest and as result I have decided to extend the deadline for signing up to the end of this month.”
She added: “Then next term I will be looking at introducing our Year 9s to the benefits of the scheme.”
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, designed to support the personal and social development of young people.  
The Award is widely recognised by educationalists and employers.
