Studying at Cambridge University is now very much in the sights of one of our Sixth Form Students after being offered a place on a medicine degree course.
Year 13 student and Head Boy, Dylan Birk has received confirmation of an offer to study medicine at Sidney Sussex College at Cambridge, and he admits the news has still to sink in properly.
Dylan found out about his conditional offer last week via email ahead of sitting his Statistics mock A level examination.
He said: “I had to keep re-reading the email to make sure I had read it right. I couldn’t believe I had been offered the place.  I straight away went to tell Miss Watson [Assistant Vice Principal and Head of KSA Sixth Form] who was really pleased for me. I felt it was only right I told her first after all her support for me with applying and preparing for the interview. Everyone at the Academy has been very supportive and happy for me. It really feels like all my hard work has finally paid off.”
However, the hard work doesn’t stop for Dylan yet with his offer being a conditional one based on him receiving 2 A*s and an A grade in his A level results this summer.
He added: “I definitely have still got to keep working hard.”
Dylan explained the main reasons he wanted to go to Cambridge was due to the college lecturers’ teaching methods including one to one tutoring and the way the course would help him to develop in a specialist area of medicine and allow him to look more at the science behind it.
Head of Sixth Form, Miss Jane Watson said: “Dylan has worked extremely hard and he really deserves the offer of this much sought after place. Well done.”
