Year 7 pupil Myles Tew is a member of the TS Pytchley Sea Cadets and has recently received the Commodore's Pennant from his District Officer - the first in his group to receive the award in a number of years.

It is the pinnacle award for a Junior Sea Cadet and Myles had to complete 10 badges, which includes dozens of activities, to receive the special accolade.

Myles joined the group just over two years ago and attends three times a week, twice for Cadets and once for band practice as he plays the side drum.

He had to participate in a certain number of activities including First Aid, rowing, sailing and community events, such as collecting for the Poppy Appeal.

He was promoted to First Class Junior then Leading Junior before he received the Pennant, which has only been given to five other boys in his unit.

Myles said: "Sea Cadets helps to give you respect for others and it's fun. I enjoy sailing and power-boating.

"I was very proud and excited to get the Commodore's Pennant."
