Using Maths in Cooking

Year 8s had fun calucating the correct quantities of mixture required for making a cake as part of a special maths project.
They were challenged to design their own cake, calcuate its volume and surface area and working with ratios to calculate the ingredients.
Some of the students designs were made in to real cakes by maths teachers Mr Ready and Miss Keen

                  

Third Place for KSA Team in Inter-Schools Maths Competition

Four student's problem-solving skills helped KSA secure third place at the regional final of the Year 10 Team Competition, run by the Futher Maths Support Programme.
The Academy took two teams to the event at Corby Business Academy, where students took on the challenge of a variety of timed rounds including using base 6 arithmetic, a relay race and problem-solving. The team that came third was made up of Lauson Kenyon, Jordan Ayre, Joe Smallman and Charllotte Marlow.
