Kettering science Academy welcomed over 800 visitors to their open evening, in which Year 6 students and their parents were able to take part in activities, talk with subject leaders and look around the facilities the Academy has to offer.

Associate Principal Mr Tony Segalini gave presentations to share the Academy’s ethos and explain what life is like at KSA. Students also spoke about their own personal experiences. Year 11 students Seth and Jodie said ‘ If we are ever struggling, teachers are always willing to stay behind, even if you just need a chat.’

‘We have been given so many opportunities through KSA such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and next year we going on a four week trip to Kenya.'

In each department, staff and students put on a range of interactive activities; favourites included the flame test and making elephants toothpaste. In art and design there were opportunities for Year 6 students to make their own pencil cases and name plaques. There was also drama workshops and performances from music students in the central area.

Mr Segalini said ‘It was fantastic to see so many families visit the Academy for our open evening. ‘It’s a very important time for parents; they need to choose the right school for their young person.

‘I was so proud to represent the school and particularly of our staff and students who made such an effort to show everyone what a great learning community we are. I thank all the families who took the time to come and see what we have to offer. I look forward to working with many of them in the future.’
