Singer Hoping For Chance To Perform At BBC Proms

Lauson Kenyon could be singing at the BBC Proms if his choir is successful at the National Festival of Music for Youth next month.

Lauson is a member of the Northamptonshire Youth Choir which is taking part in the Festival at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Tuesday, July 5th.

It could see the choir going on to perform at the BBC Proms - a prospect that Lauson is very excited about.

They are up against a mix of other groups, including brass bands, but the Year 7 student thinks the choir is in with a shot.

He said: "We have such a good blend of voices and the end result of all those voices coming together is brilliant.

"It would be absolutely amazing if we got through. I would be so excited and proud of the choir because it would be such a big thing - it would be one of the highlights of my life."

The choir will sing four songs including Lullaby by Billy Joel and With a Lily in Your Hand by Eric Whitacre.

It won't be the first time Lauson has performed at the Sympony Hall - he sang there last year when he was a member of the Northamptonshire Boys Choir.
