Talent Show Winners Gearing Up for The K Factor

A Michael Bublé tribute and a dance inspired by Michael Jackson helped two acts see off strong competition at the KSA Talent Show.

The overall winner was Year 9 student Ryan Ollett, who performed Bublé's hit Home, followed by the runners-up, a Year 9 Thriller dance group made up of 12 girls.

Following the audience vote, the performers will now face acts from others schools across Kettering at the K Factor Final on July 23rd.

Music Teacher Ruth Reider said she is hoping the Academy can claim back the title after student Chloe Leigh was crowned winner two years ago.

This year's young stars who took to the stage at the Masque Theatre in Barton Seagrave included Year 10 magician Jamie Docherty, Year 9 comedian Eden Palmer, Year 11 pianist Zach Snow and Year 11 guitarist Josh Gibbard.

Miss Reider said: "Ryan's was a very strong, clear performance and the audience were really taken in - he really got them going.

"The whole event was very well supported. The acts were a step up from last year, with more variety, more dance acts and even some performances of original music."

She added: "We want our two acts to win the K Factor and we have every faith in them.

"Ryan is a fantastic performer who works hard. We want him to wow the rest of Kettering with his talents."

Ryan is an expressive arts student and this year he played the role of the Scarecrow in the Academy's play, The Wizard of Oz.

He said: "I have a fairly low voice when I sing and so has Michael Bublé so I thought I could adapt to his style. At the start I felt a bit shaky but as it went on, I really got into it.

"I'm not 100% confident of winning the K Factor but I think I could do it."

Details of how to get tickets for the show will be available soon.
