Tree sculptures created by students and inspired by a famous artist can now be found amongst the book shelves in the library at Kettering Science Academy.
The tree sculptures have been created by Year 7 students at the Academy as part of project work they had been set by KSA Art Teacher, Louise Hodgkins.
At the end of last term the students had been studying the artist, Mondrian and they were asked to create 3D tree sculptures based on the artist’s style of artwork.
The 3D creations of varying shapes, sizes, colours and materials can now be viewed in the Secondary Phase library.
Miss Hodgkins has praised the students' work and hopes as many people within the Academy get to view the display of trees.
She said: “Please go down to the library and have a look. I am very proud of their efforts with students also taking time on their projects during the half term week .”
She explained that a couple of students’ sculptures were no longer included in the exhibition as they had made edible artwork; one student had made a large tree cake and the other had created a tree out of a stack of biscuits, but a tree made with jelly sweets still remains.
