Dreadlock Alien performance poet, Richard Grant is set to visit the Academy next week and will be performing for students as well as inspiring them through creative workshops.
The poet will be spending the whole day at KSA next Thursday, 8th October to coincide with National Poetry Day.
His visit will begin with him introducing himself and his poetry to Year 6 & 7 students and he will be reciting his poem ‘Well Done’, a poem about the importance of supporting and encouraging young people to do well and achieve.

During the day he will also be working with smaller groups of students, in different year groups, to inspire creative writing and advising them about performance techniques.
Head librarian at the Secondary Phase, Mrs Heidi Economou said: “It is going to be a real pleasure and honour to be welcoming this former Poet Laureate of Birmingham to the Academy to entertain and inspire our students. We believe our students will gain a great insight into poetry writing and performance from his visit and in particular from the smaller group workshops that he will be running. It should make for an extremely memorable National Poetry Day experience for all those involved.”
