A confidence and team building day was held for students at the Academy run by Humanutopia.
The day of thought-provoking workshops took place for Year 10 students on Friday, 21st November in the Secondary Phase's main hall and the subject of discussion was student relationships.
The students were asked to look at how they interact with each on a daily basis, to think about what they say to one another and how a fellow student might react to what is being said to them.
Individual students were encouraged to stand up and share experiences of when they might have had a bad experience with another student; a falling out or a disagreement and how the incident had made them feel.
Head of Year 10, Mrs Amanda Doherty said: “The 'Who Are You?' day was absolutely fantastic and our students were amazing .The organisers commended them for the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. “
She added: “The day was all about looking at students’ relationships with it each other and how their actions and what they say can have an affect other people. Then they looked at ways to create more positive relationships going forward as a Year Group.”
Mrs Doherty added: “The students were sharing their experiences with confidence and it was a thought provoking event for the students that will hopefully help shape better student relationships going forward.”
Students took part in a number of team building exercises during the day and also spoke out about their dreams and aspirations for the future with the help of a dream chair provided by the Humanutopia team.
