New Lead Teacher For Music

The Academy is proud to announce the appointment of a new lead teacher for music who will be starting to re-introduce music back into the curriculum at KSA.
After Easter, Mr John Dolby will be taking up the music post at the Secondary Phase and will be working as part of the newly established performing arts faculty at the Academy.
Mr Dolby starts at the school with a wealth of musical experience and comes on board with a real passion for teaching music and engaging students in music culture, from encouraging the appreciation of learning about music through to being performers.
Mr Dolby said: “From a very young age I have been passionate about music and how music can evoke the most precious memories. I started off my musical journey by joining my local choir from a young age, I then stayed with the choir until secondary school. I studied music for GCSE and from here went to college to further my knowledge and broaden my horizons with in musical world. I studied Music Performance and had the opportunity to perform at various venues and understand the importance of music within popular culture.
“After I left college I went to university and studied Music and developed the passion for teaching and learning while studying for my degree. I am currently a secondary school music teacher in Milton Keynes and I am very excited to start my new role at KSA.”
He added: “I have had many musical influences over the years and with the ever changing industry I think it is important to keep an open mind.
“My favorite band would have to be Toto, a classic 80’s rock band with many of my favorite hits from “Rossana” to “Hold the Line”. I am also a huge fan of Musicals and my favorite shows are currently Wicked and Rent and the way they have powerful storylines accompanied by fascinating music.
“My main aim at KSA is to introduce music education across all of the year groups and make learning enjoyable and get students to express their desire and passions through playing an instrument, through moving compositions and through executing music production.Music should be accessible to everyone who wants to take part in it and it should be enjoyable, but also provide depth and perception to every stage of a pupil’s development.”
Head of the performing arts, Miss Julia Mallard said: “Mr Dolby's arrival at KSA marks a wonderful time for students at the secondary phase in music, the performing arts and for academy life in general. The Arts are a vital part of engaging the human experience, not just in education but in life. Through the study of the arts we become more compassionate, more empathetic and we experience the world in a way that allows us to understand the nuances of cultures all around us. Mr Dolby's love for Music was evident upon first meeting him and I cannot be more thrilled than to be welcoming him to the Performing Arts team.”
