Successful author and screenwriter Andy Briggs spent time talking with some of our Year 7 students at the end of last term.
Our group of students were treated to an informative talk by Mr Briggs at Corby Business Academy on Thursday 26th May.
The KSA students that met with Mr Briggs had been chosen to attend the event by the English department staff as a reward for the students’ continuing effort shown within their lessons.
Mr Briggs spoke about his various writing experiences and his very varied career to date. He also shared creative writing advice with our aspiring young writers.
Head librarian at KSA, Mrs Heidi Economou said: “It was an amazing opportunity for our selected students to meet with this author and to gain knowledge from his writing expertise. Mr Briggs is a real advocate for the importance of reading and writing within daily life. He provided all the students with a very inspiring talk and offered lots of helpful and practical creative writing advice. He also spoke about his new book ‘The Inventory - Iron Fist’ and some of the students had their copy of his book signed. Each student also benefited from the chance of speaking individually with him.”
Mr Briggs as an author re-invented the character of Tarzan through a series of contemporary books and as a screenwriter he has worked on a number of movies including Judge Dredd, Freddy Vs Jason and Foreverman for Spiderman creator Stan Lee.
During his career he has also worked for Warner Bros, secured an eight-book deal with Oxford University Press and his latest book called The Inventory: Iron Fist was released last month.
