A sponsored multi-sports challenge was taken on and successfully completed by one of Year 8 students in aid of a children’s charity.
Mark Fenton took part in his first triathlon event at the weekend in Woodford which was organised by his local Scouts division, The First Woodford group.
Mark ran, cycled and kayaked his way around Woodford alongside his fellow scouts on Sunday 19th June.
The event was organised by the scout group to raise much needed funds for the charity, Zachary's shack.
The Rushden based charity provides caravan holidays in Skegness to families that have a child with any form of life threatening or life limiting illness and their aim is  to provide them with some time away together as a family.
As part of his fundraising efforts Mark cycled 6 miles at the event, ran two miles and kayaked another 1 mile.
He also did another 6 mile cycle to and from the event.
He said: “I found the running the hardest part but I enjoyed the cycling and I had done kayaking before. We did the triathlon to raise money for another caravan for the charity allowing them to help more families to go on holiday to the seaside. It wasn’t a competitive event and it was all about raising as much money as we could for the charity. I did enjoy it and I would do something similar again.”
The scouts individually were sponsored to take on the challenge and Mark raised a total of £115 for Zachary’s Shack.
