A group of our students have been inspired this term to become ambassadors for the school to help their fellow students overcome difficult situations or challenges they might encounter in the future.
The students have been chosen to become RAIR champions as part of the Sky Sports ‘Living 4 Sport Campaign’ which demonstrations how sport can help individuals to overcome difficulties and diversity in their lives.
The project has been run at the school under the guidance of athlete mentor Andrew Bridge, a basketball player who represented Great Britain at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and came away with a Bronze medal.
Mr Bridge has given the students examples of hardships he has had to face and spoken to them about how he has overcome them to become a successful sports person.
PE teacher at KSA and lead staff member for the project, Mr Matt Jackson said: “The aim of the project for the students themselves is to gain the skills to be able to lead the project and become RAIR champions for KSA. Students during the project sessions have taken part in a number of activities to challenge them and to use problem solving and team work skills to overcome any obstacles together. The project has had a brilliant impact on all of the students involved and it is clear to see how they have improved even after only two sessions.”
The final session is take place next Monday 4th July.
