Year 6 Transition Information

National Offer Day  – March 1st 2022

On March 1st 2022 you will find out if your child has been offered a place at Kettering Science Academy for September 2022 entry into Year 7.

You will receive a pack shortly informing you about the school and all the things you need to know. This will include the school day, what it is like to be a student here, expectations and the uniform. There are some forms for parents to fill in and return to the school with personal information and the home school agreement.

Our staff will visit your children in their primary schools and introduce them to what KSA is going to be like. Later in the year there will be an opportunity for students to come for a transition day here at KSA where they will meet lots of staff and see how the day works before they come in September.

We want you to find out as much as possible about student life at KSA and the KSA community so that your child and family has a successful transition to secondary school.

The transition from primary to secondary school is an exciting time and full of challenges and experiences for both parents/carers and children. We work very hard to ensure maximum success for all our students so they are ready for the challenges of secondary school, enjoying new friendships and the new opportunities secondary school brings. It can also be a worrying time and we have an excellent pastoral system to help. We also work closely with the primary schools and Year 6 teachers to ensure that we receive all the required information about our new students.

Over the next seven years we guarantee your child a first-rate education. At KSA we provide opportunities for both academic and personal development. There is much to recommend KSA including:

  • Pupils speak warmly about their ‘supportive teachers’.
  • The learning environment for pupils promotes their learning well. Pupils respect their school.
  • Pupils believe that many of their teachers ‘have a heart’. This helps them to feel safe. If problems occur, pupils are confident that their teachers will sort it out quickly.
  • Pupils value the ‘Hub’ as a place of assistance and care.
  • Pupils take advantage of the wide range of after-school experiences on offer. They appreciate the opportunity to learn new things and visit new places.
  • The learning environment for pupils promotes their learning well. Pupils respect their school.
